Patrick Mentore

Responsible for Region #1 (Barima-Waini)

Mr. Patrick E. Mentore has been associated with credit unions specifically, and cooperatives in general, since mid-1979. He is a former Assistant Secretary/Treasurer of the Guyana Defence Force Cooperative Credit Union Ltd. Before his association with the Guyana Public Service Cooperative Credit Union (GPSCCU), Patrick was involved in writing articles that contributed to the body of knowledge, relative to the cooperative movement. As early as 2012, Patrick mooted the concept of a national umbrella body for cooperative credit unions. This suggestion was realised with the establishment of the Guyana National Co-operative Credit Union Limited (GNCCUL), eight years later in August 2021.

Mr. Mentore has participated in several online workshops and training courses related to credit union development, including the Swoboda/CCCU-organized Credit Union Governance Training Programme; and the CCCU/Compliance Aid-sponsored AML/CFT/CFP Specialized Compliance Officer Training; and CaribDE 45 Immersive Training.

Professionally, the Vice-Chairman has served in several capacities in the public sector including as: Human Resources Officer; Quality Management Officer; Training Manager; Senior Information, Knowledge Management & Research Officer; Head, Strategic Management; National Project Coordinator; Public Relations and Press Officer; and Lecturer. One department under Patrick’s leadership received the High Commendation Award for service of an exceptionally high quality.

In addition to local travel, Mr. Mentore has travelled overseas to Brazil; St. Kitts & Nevis; Uganda; St. Lucia; Canada; Dubai; England; and Kenya during his professional career as a participant, panelist, and presenter.

Mr. Patrick Mentore has oversight responsibility for Barima-Waini (Region 1) and remains committed to exploiting his vast experience for the institutional and organizational development of the GPSCCU and the ultimate benefit of all members of the credit union.
